Fashion Friday with The Houston Astros
Thank God It's Friday!
We would like to say Congratulations to the Houston Astros for winning the 2017 World Series. It was a long time coming. A little history lesson on the Houston Astros. Back in 1962 to 1964 the Astros was known as The Colt 45s. After just two season, the team changed it's name to the Houston Astros.
In 1965 the Houston Astros was born. They were put in the National League. The Astros struggle for a long time but kept at it and Today they are Champs.
The Houston Astros is the only team in Baseball history to have gone to the World Series and representing both the National League and the American League. In 2005 they reach the world series for the first time in franchise history and represented the national league but lost to the Chicago Whitesox.
Two years later the Astros signed Altuve as an amateur free agent on March 6, 2007, and he made his major league debut on July, 20, 2011. A right-handed batter and thrower, as of 2017, he is the shortest active MLB player at 5 feet 6 inches. Altuve was the first player of the new "Core 4" the Astros was putting together.
In 2011 the Astros hire General Manager Jeff Luhncow. Jeff went to work right away and drafted George Springer out the gate with the number 4 pick who would become the MVP of the World Series. In 2012 then drafted Carlos Correa with the number one picked overall, being the 3rd Latin player to be picked #1 (Alex Rodriguez and Adrian Gonzalez) are the other two. Carlos a shortstop from Puerto Rico would be the third member of the new "core 4". Carlos also made MLB history at the World Series, not only was he great but after winning he propose to his girlfriends Miss Texas USA Daniella Rodriguez on the field and she said YES! Lucky Man..
The 2017 world series was one if not the best series we witness in a long time. Both teams were going at it. The Los Angeles Dodgers fought a great fight but at the end it was The Houston Astros came out on top.
This week's pick's are dedicated to the Champs.
We can't for get about the MVP George Springer. George went from a quiet kid to the heart of the Astros. George is an inspiration for all young kids out there battling with stuttering. He over came that with the help of his parents and of cause baseball. Today George is a World Series Champion and a World Series MVP. We salute you.
Now you have to count your blessing Justin Verlander, Justin was traded to the Astros at the trading deadline in August 31 from the last place Detroit Tigers. Houston made a big move on getting Verlander. This veteran pitcher helped the Astros get over the "Playoffs" hum, For the 2017 postseason (6 appearances), Verlander went 4–1 with a 2.21 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 36 2⁄3 innings. "You Like That" Justin went from last to Champ in the damn same season!
By winning the World Series,The Houston Astros has lifted a whole state. Just two months ago Houston was hit with one of the worst hurricane in USA history. Hurricane Harvey. Then Puerto Rico was hit also. Having players from Puerto Rico was a double whaping. They gave hope to both Houston and Puerto Rico with their World Championship win. They still have a long road ahead to recover but hopefully with this win they can give people hope.
