Swaggerdad's Top 5 Christmas Traditions

Christmas is a time of year that we honor traditions to create family memories, bring everyone together and celebrate the big homie, Jesus' birthday. Once we've accomplished Thanksgiving the countdown to Christmas begins! Here's a list of our top 5 traditions that we keep in our family. Merry Christmas to All!

1. Tree Swag

It doesn't matter if you're pulling out the fake tree, picking one out on the streets of NYC or actually heading out to chop your own..this is always an exciting time for the whole family. We get the Christmas music going on our sonos speaker and the decorating begins. I know some families go with a theme and thats cool too. We usually keep it traditional with all the ornaments we've collected throughout the years.

2. Feliz Navidad

Christmas Eve is the big day for us. We get together as a family eating all the wonderful foods that are part of our culture... pernil, pastels, empanadas, rice and beans, coquito...the list goes on. There's always plenty of food for everyone and then some. The important part is that we're all together and we always take a special moment to remember our Angels up in Heaven.

4. Snacks n things

Can't forget about Santa and his reindeer. We leave some milk and make a batch of cookies..or hey just pick some up if time is tight...and don't forget some carrots for the reindeer. Milian leaves it right by the fireplace and we make sure to eat a few and spread some of the crumbs before he gets up to inspect things. If you don't have a fireplace, no worries....let the kids know the window is unlocked so santa can get in..maybe leave a sign on it that says, "Yo Santa..right here"..lol....Oh and don't forget once they're in bed..ring the reindeer bell so they can hear Santa riding over the houses on his sleigh! (yes we took it there-lol)
